THE PINK PALACE

The cityscape series is inspired by daily commutes, paying homage to city beauty. The artwork is influenced by Andy Warhol's pop art and Ted Harrison's vibrant northern Canada depictions. Created on hand-dyed cotton fabric without applique, the series features thread painting and self-digitized embroidery. Upcoming artwork will be judged at the 2024 International Quilt Show in Houston.

PEEK-A-BOO!

2019
20”x28”
Held in Private Collection
Appliqued
Was the first art quilt that I entered into a competition. It was featured in the Autumn 2021 Canadian Quilter magazine and won the award for Excellence for Work by a first time exhibitor from the Canadian Quilting Association in 2021.
I had a 3 x 5 photo of my son that sat above my cutting table for at least 25 years. It was the inspiration I needed to finally create this quilt for him.
It is one of the fondest memories I have of him. It was a bright cold fall day, an age of innocence, discovery and joy. His nose tip pink from the cold, sand on his fingers, and a twinkle in his eye, “Peek-A-Boo Mommy, I see you!” What mother could ever forget a moment like that.

Remember that first leap of courage when you took your first plunge down that slide that looked high enough to touch the sky? This was one of those rare moments in time. Pure innocence and excitement captured forever.
STILL,
JUST FABRIC
AND THREAD

10" x 20"
2024
Mounted on canvas backed frame.

Currently on tour as part of the Narrow Works exhibit with the Fibre Art Network, this piece is reversed appliqued and trapuntoed to give the illusion that the glass and bottle are in the foreground.
As the title suggests, the intricate thread detail and harmonious use of precision cut fabric captures the dance of light, its reflections mirrored and refractions created in mesmerizing uniformity.
The piece will be exhibited at the Naess Gallery located at The Paint Spot, 11032 81 Avenue Edmonton, AB, August 29, 2024 through to October 7 2024.

This piece was created using more than 3,000 squares of 30 different shades and hues of blue to form an impression on how a computer interprets colour. Zoom in and all you see is a myriad of different blues; zoom out and the different hand dyed shades and hues of blue form a clear picture.
